The Latest Guest Comment

Lovely holiday with plenty to do.  4 kids (8-13) all had amazing time.  Particular highlights – crabbing at Blakeney, seal trip from Morston Quay, gardens at Sandringham.  Lovely cottage, pool and outdoor space.  Would love to come back.”  The Armstrong family.

The Cranmer Games

We have had a great week at Cranmer and judging by the enthusiasm showed by guests we are already seeing the start of the Olympic legacy taking shape.

6 new swimmers under the age of  10 – all learnt to swim in the pool at Cranmer – completing their first width or length armband free!  All awarded a gold (chocolate) medal on departure and eager to get back to Norfolk next year.

Keen tennis players have been competing on the tennis courtsas small children vow to be the next Andy Murray or Laura Robson.

Last night under the beautiful pink sun set competition was high amongst the young runners competing in a 1000m run around the play paddock at Cranmer.
New friends have been made and races won.  Long may the legacy continue.
Parents have been pleased to see Gameboys ditched in favour of sport in the great British outdoors.  Hurrah!

Many guests promising to return next year with cycles and running shoes!

Cranmer Country Cottage guests enjoying Norfolk Hospitality
Cranmer Country Cottage visitors enjoyed local cakes and pastries whilst watching the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics on the 52″ High Definition  display which forms part of the new conference and meeting venue within the grounds of the holiday complex.

The Conference centre venue will be officially opened in October, but due to demand will be holding a number of events and exhibitions prior to the opening.
With a dedicated broadband connection including secure WiFi access, the conference suite is ideally suited for offsite meetings or internet related training events.

Cycling through the Norfolk coast and Countryside - Norfolk-Luxury-Cottages

We work so hard to make our visitors experience a positive one. So it is really encouraging to receive these totally unsolicited emails applauding not only our accommodation but also the opportunities to explore our wonderful North Norfolk coast and countryside

“Cycling in Norfolk should be available on the NHS!
We have just returned from a fabulous weeks cycling based at Cranmer Country Cottages in North Norfolk from which we cycled over 300 miles on the some of the best English lanes you could hope to find.
Cranmer is ideally placed, very close to National Cycle Route 1 and Route 30 but with OS maps there is so much more on offer. Quiet lanes linking pretty villages with duck ponds and great pubs, watch out for the wild life on the way, brown hares and barn owls don’t seem very shy as they go about their business.
As club cyclists who have enjoyed lots of Great Britain and Europe on a bike we think Norfolk is a real gem.”

Homecoming of our Turbine

Cranmer's Turbine continues to generate power
Winding up the Turbine Leg

Ready for the coming season, our turbine has been refurbished at the factory in Ireland. So far total generation has been 38,585.000 units of electricity, although it had been out of action for the two months waiting to be shipped back to the factory.  The turbine has been refurbished and like so many of these things we are all on a steep learning curve.

Since being re-installed, our turbine has performed well over the weekend in all the high winds – Despite the weather conditions visitors have enjoyed the sanctuary of our luxurious indoor pool.
Talking of alternative power sources, the turbine debate has once again erupted in the Norfolk media.  Interestingly former local windsurfing champion Simon Sanderson recently won public funding to build his tidal generator, the sea-spider, the suggestions are that it should be less of a blot on the landscape – we wait with interest.  Not sure how it will fit in with the sailing fraternity though.

The Olympic Torch Route

The Olympic Torch Route has been announced and on the 4th July, we in Norfolk have the opportunity to witness this “Once in a Lifetime event”.
Cranmer Country Cottages are only 10 minutes away from the Kings Lynn – Fakenham route. So stay with us to celebrate US Independence Day and watch the Olympic Torch procession

Clay shooting at Cranmer Country Cottgaes

Learn Clay Pigeon Shooting

Organised by us and run by Claybusters, we are offering professional tuition for all of the family ages 6 – 80 at our regular Clay Shoot days . Learn how to safely use a shotgun and how to shoot a “moving bird” from our manned clay traps. This experience is available for the whole family to participate in. More information and available dates to come.

We have been asked a number of times in the past by customers if we could host an event for their company or division, so after some soul searching and being mindful of the peace and tranquillity of our guests we embarked on the Conference & Event Centre project
The new building challenge the conference room is nearly here and will give us a fab new communal space – as ever it is always a challenge building through the winter months whilst trying to remain open for business.  We will be booking and hosting special interest breaks and business break outs with activities ranging from Murder mystery, forensic days, clay pigeon shooting & archery weekends & an introduction to interior design plus photography & cooking events with Keith (our own Jamie Oliver).
We will keep you up to date on the build and will be organising a launch party, so keep looking!
